BATON ROUGE, LA – MARCH 18, 2024 — Entering its fifth year of operation, Skilltype begins serving libraries across Asia and the Middle East. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Singapore Management University, and Georgetown University of Qatar are the latest international libraries to adopt the platform.

Skilltype’s training management feature offers libraries the ability to deliver personalized training pathways to staff that leverages local resources alongside 11,000 library training resources from conferences and vendors around the world. Gabi Wong, Director of Library Services “In academic libraries, staff is the driving force for all services, operations, and innovations. Talent management is one of the core priorities at HKUST Library. We are glad to join Skilltype, and we look forward to growing together with librarians from all parts of the globe.”

Similarly, Singapore Management University Libraries and Georgetown University of Qatar are adopting Skilltype as an investment towards the strategic priority of creating knowledgeable staff who pursue learning and development.

“Investing in the upskilling of library staff can significantly enhance their capabilities, resulting in more efficient and innovative services, while fostering a culture of continuous learning,” commented Jamillah Scott-Branch, Acting Director of Library Services at Georgetown University of Qatar. “Skilltype has played a pivotal role in this process by offering valuable training that keeps us updated on international trends and best practices”.

As the first libraries in their region to join the Skilltype community, each plans to contribute enhancements to the Skilltype metadata and content roadmap.
