Baton Rouge, LA and Melbourne, VIC | September 30, 2024: Australian Catholic University (ACU) has become the latest institution to join the growing ranks of libraries adopting Skilltype, a dynamic platform designed to transform staff development and skills management. This move aligns with ACU’s commitment to providing its library staff with access to cutting-edge resources for continuous learning and professional growth. By integrating Skilltype into their development framework, ACU will not only streamline staff training but also ensure that its library professionals are equipped with the skills required to navigate the rapidly changing landscape of modern librarianship.
Janet Fletcher, Library Director at ACU, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating,
“We are pleased to partner with Skilltype for highly personalized skills development resources. Skilltype will contribute to our plans for supporting our staff professional development.”

This partnership marks a significant step for ACU, especially in light of the university’s return to CAVAL earlier this year under a new associate membership tier. As the exclusive distributor of Skilltype in Australia and New Zealand, CAVAL will play a key role in supporting ACU’s implementation of the platform. Along with access to Skilltype’s comprehensive skills management workflows, ACU will benefit from dedicated help desk support, ensuring that their team receives the guidance and assistance necessary to maximize the platform’s impact.
CAVAL’s Deputy CEO, Sae Ra Germaine, also underscored the broader value of Skilltype, noting, “Enhancing the capabilities within the library sector is a crucial aspect of CAVAL’s strategy and we are excited to partner with ACU to integrate Skilltype into their library’s professional development program.” This strategic collaboration between ACU and CAVAL further strengthens the shared mission to elevate the skills of library professionals across the region.
Tony Zanders, founder and CEO of Skilltype, emphasized the positive momentum generated by ACU’s decision, stating, “We’re encouraged by ACU’s decision to adopt Skilltype for continuous staff development, and look forward to helping increase their capacity in strategic areas.”
