Our Q3 updates for the Skilltype platform — versions 1.58.0, 1.58.1, and 1.58.2 — introduce new AI-driven automation, improved search functionality, and refinements to how organizations interact with skills and products. These updates continue our focus on delivering a more personalized, efficient experience for both individual users and institutions.
Highlights
- AI Auto-Tagging for Events: Events ingested into Skilltype are now automatically tagged using AI technology. UCLA events continue to lead the way as our first implementation of this feature, as we work to integrate calendars from other organizations.
- Enhanced Search Filtering: Users can now apply filters based on the opposite of access types (for example, “Show Only” filters) for more precise results. For example, you can now more quickly refine your results to only those that provide a certificate.
- Improved Job Category Feed: The Job Category feed now supports enhanced filtering options, helping users navigate opportunities more effectively.
- People Search Preview: Search results in the People tab now include profile photos, offering better context and visual identification.
- Org-Level Tag Customization: Skills and Products available to each organization are now limited to the skilltype (or knowledge domain) assigned to that organization, ensuring users only see relevant tags.
Research & Development
Our R&D work this quarter focused on expanding the role of AI in the Skilltype ecosystem. This includes:
- Leveraging AI for Content Aggregation and Auto-Tagging: Exploring how automation can make Skilltype’s content more discoverable and relevant.
- Investigating Conversational Interfaces: Early research into a conversational Skilltype experience that would enable more intuitive, natural interactions with the platform.
Fixes and Technical Enhancements
This release also includes a wide range of behind-the-scenes improvements:
- Updated search tests and infrastructure for Search.
- Implemented additional infrastructure security measures.
- Refined Algolia indexing and tagging for AI-processed items.
- Enhanced UI navigation in the search experience overall
- Added visual indicator (✨) to highlight AI-enhanced content.
- Improved tag management for skilltypes/domains.
- Applied other bug fixes and stability updates.
