NEW ORLEANS, La — September 1, 2021 Skilltype, Inc, an American software firm developing talent tools for libraries and their employees, is responding to new demand for its services with the appointment of Janet Walsh as senior library talent analyst. With the firm’s origins in academic libraries broadening to public, state, and health sciences libraries, a need for deeper library expertise has arisen to help leadership teams evaluate a data-driven approach to talent management.

Walsh, a veteran library leader and service provider, commented, “In the many conversations with colleagues over the years, there are unique skills and competencies of staff that never make the resume, CV, or org chart.  Skilltype creates another lens to make strategic decisions, alongside a tool for ongoing professional development. I am thrilled to join the team at this exciting time.”

Skilltype’s founder and CEO, Tony Zanders, says Janet brings unique experience at the intersection of libraries and vendors, with an understanding of what organizations need in terms of talent management support. “Working together at EBSCO gave me firsthand experience of Janet’s understanding of libraries in their terms. After demonstrating an immediate understanding of what makes our software unique, we can’t wait to learn from her and see the impact she has on helping our community grow.”

Walsh has a diverse background in libraries ranging from access services and faculty liaison support, to library leadership and account management as a vendor. Increasing professional responsibility was not enough of a challenge, as she went on to earn both a masters in library and information science from University of Missouri at Columbia, and doctoral degree in educational leadership from Tennessee State University during that time. She will join Skilltype's team remotely from Nashville, Tennessee.
